A couple of weeks ago I got back from the latest "Hans Rey Adventure Team" mini adventure with my friend and current Biker X World Champ Brian Lopes. We left Laguna Beach in Brian' sweet Sportsmobile (a $ 80K van with every luxury you can think of) to head to Lake Tahoe in Northern California.
I spent the last week with my friends from the Adidas Adventure Team in the Julien Alps in Slovenia. The Adidas Adventure Team consists of four worldclass outdoor athletes: Schorschi Schauf (Kayak), Beat Kammerlander (Climbing), Mike Küng (Paraglider) and myself.
As you read this we are on a beach somewhere near the Sierra Maestra Mountains in the Southern part of Cuba. Along with me on this "Hans Rey Adventure Team" trip is German Fro/Freerider Tarek Rasouli and Stefan Eisend our photographer and cameraman in one.
We have just returned from a brutal three day trip across the Sierra Maestra Mountain Range, climbing Cuba's highest peak, the Pico Turquino (2005m). We were the first to attempt this cruel hike/bike on mountain bikes. This was the first time I opted for hard core freeride bike on one of my Adventure Team trips (GT i-drive Ruckus and a Rocky Mountain RM7).
Come ride with Hans Rey the trails of Sicily, and learn from the master himself. From November 10 -17, 2001 will be the 2nd annual Hans Rey Riding Week, this year in beautiful Italy. The participants will be split in groups of different skill levels with maximum 13 persons per group. We'll be staying in a beautiful beach front hotel on the Northern Coast of Sicily.
One of the main inspirations to do my latest Egypt Adventure was to take a closer look at all the legends and evidence surrounding the Great Pyramid, but also looking into the politics and the ignorance of many Egyptologists. There is a lot of evidence that the Great Pyramid is much older than officially recognized. Modern historians tell that it was built about 2500 BC, but more and more indications are surfacing, dating that the Pyramids in Giza including the Sphinx are from around 10500 BC.
As you read this, we're in the middle of the latest "Hans Rey Adventure Team" trip in Egypt. Besides taking a closer look at the ancient history and mysteries surrounding the pyramids and some of the other archeological sites, we are mainly here to cross the Sinai Peninsula on our mountain bikes.
