Sambazon Acai has just launched a new campaign featuring Hans and Wheels 4 Life.

August 2010

Dear Friends and Family,

We’re launching a campaign that tells the unique stories of Warriors.  Folks like you who are out in the world trying to make a positive difference. As a dear friend of Sambazon, we’d like you to be one of the first to see the campaign and help us spread the word. It’s a great excuse to see how you look in a headdress… and that’s exactly what we want you to do.

Here’s the scoop:  Warrior Up celebrates Warriors of Change. We founded Sambazon with the purpose of providing a healthy food while benefiting the socio-economic conditions in the rainforest where açaí is grown. Now we’re putting a face to the positive change with our Sambazon Warriors.

Thanks for your help and support,

Sambazon

Livigno Bike Park is about to go off

The bike season in Livigno is about to take off and all gravity loving mountain bike riders can look forward to the Swatch Bikepark Mottolino Opening on June 12th and 13th. The one of its kind mountain scenery in Northern Italy is often called “little Tibet” and offers 3.200 kilometers/ 2,000 miles of trails and GPS-tracks for mountain bikers and road cyclists (www.outdoor.livigno.eu). The unique bike destination owns a well-built infrastructure that makes it easy to reach by car (Munt La Schera tunnel is open for 24h since 2010) and by train. The Italian mountain resort provides various customized services and offers for all bike fans and vacationers. Livigno also hosts a selection of international bike highlights like the Giro d’ Italia, Transalp, the La Pedaleda Marathon, the Woman Tour of Italy, the 1st IMBA (International Mountain Bike Association) “Flow Country” conference and the SuperEnduro race series in 2010.

Scotland Adventure with Steve Peat, Danny MacAskill and Hans Rey

Peaty and I have been planning a trip to the Scottish Isle of Skye for a long time, when things finally started falling into place we invited YouTube sensation Danny MacAskill to join us. In whirlwind fashion the Scottish native has been living the dream of every kid in the world, since his film clip debut on the internet a little more than a year ago and has become the most watched sports-clip on YouTube of all time, with nearly 18 million viewers to date.

24 St. Patrick’s Days ago, the U.S. got Hans Rey

Bike Intelligencer

Never lacking a sense of moment, Hans “No Way” Rey tweeted earlier today, St. Patrick’s Day, that he came to the U.S. from his native Germany exactly 24 years ago. Now that may make some of us feel pretty old, but it also brings back a flood of great memories from watching Hans over the years. The guy deserves far more accolades than he usually gets for creating a whole new zeitgeist for mountain biking.

Two things in particular: Hans bridged trials excellence with fearless mountain biking stunts and showmanship. And Hans brought his game to video, creating a culture and spreading a market that evolved into today’s high-flying slopestyle DVDs and Web clips.

How Danny MacAskill got Famous

December 29, 2009
Bike Intelligencer

For cycling fans, the New York Times‘ profile on trials wunderkind Danny MacAskill is more reiterative than informative. We’ve known about the Scottish phenom for months. One point in particular needs clarifying, though.

The article attributes MacAskill’s celebrity to YouTube. While YouTube assuredly played a role in elevating MacAskill from a $9-an-hour bike mechanic to a (potentially) six-figure international icon, crediting YouTube for his transformation is like crediting photography for making Marilyn Monroe famous. The images were important. But a lot more was going on.
